INSPIRATION

On a quiet shore where the tide spoke low,

Two sea roses bloomed in the drift below.

One was red as a heart mid-beat, mid-brave,

Born of salt, of longing, of the pull of waves.

The other glowed yellow, soft as the sun,

Laughing with light, with a love half-spun.

She shimmered easy, warm and wide,

A promise of comfort, a place to hide.

They grew side by side where the sea would pause,

Rooted in sand, in unspoken laws ~

Two kinds of love the ocean knows,

Two ways a feeling learns to grow.

I walked that beach with bare, slow feet,

Carrying questions the tide couldn’t meet.

The yellow called with a gentle hand,

“Stay where it’s safe. Stay where you land.”

But the red ~ oh, the red~ did not ask, did not plead,

She burned like a truth I hadn’t agreed

To silence or soften or leave behind,

She knew my pulse. She knew my mind.

So I knelt where the foam kissed broken shells,

Where choosing feels like breaking spells,

And lifted the red from the breathing sand,

Her stem still warm in my shaking hand.

The sea sighed once, then let me go,

As if it had always known I’d choose so,

Not the easier bloom, nor the kinder tone,

But the love that felt like coming home.
